OUR VOTES!
We have entered the europarliament!
MOVEMENT
2.282.895 votes were obtained by the lists of “Junts per Europa – Lliures per Europa” (Together for Catalonia – Free for Europe), led by Carles Puigdemont and Antoni Comín, and “Ahora Repúblicas” (Now Republics), led by Oriol Junqueras, in the European elections held on May 26th 2019 in Spain.
Spain’s Electoral Board (JEC) has not allowed these three elected Members of the European Parliament (MEP) to take up their seats in the European Parliament. We can therefore establish that more than 2,2 million European citizens are not represented in their Parliament.
Spain has violated democracy’s most basic principles and by doing so has stolen 2.2 million votes. By allowing this to happen, the European Parliament has taken away the right to be represented from 2.2 million European citizens.
Do Not Steal Our Votes is an initiative undertaken by a group of voters which has not been granted its rights to be politically represented in a Parliament that should protect democracy above all, a Parliament which has apparently been swayed by the legal argument that the unity of a Member State should be protected before the most basic human rights can come into consideration.
We are afraid that, by allowing a Member State to block democratically elected MEPs from taking office in this manner, the votes of European citizens in future elections in other Member States might be stolen and disregarded as well. We believe that the ability to vote and for that vote to be respected are fundamental European human rights. Do you agree with us? Find out how you can join the protest below.
JOIN US TO PROTEST THIS BLATANT VIOLATION OF OUR RIGHTS AS EUROPEAN CITIZENS
The “Do Not Steal Our Votes” campaign will start with a demonstration on Wednesday 17 September 2019 in Brussels. We will hold mobilisations in front of the European Parliament and the European Commission in Brussels.
Did you vote on May 26th and do you want your vote to be respected in the way that it should? If so, participate in this campaign and make sure that the European institutions, the ones that preach and therefore ought to protect democracy and human rights, will hear your protest denouncing this abuse of the rights of European citizens.
The European Court of Justice will take a decision that might restore the rights of all those who voted for Junts per Europa – Lliures per Europa and Ahora Repúblicas, but if the European Parliament so desired, Carles Puigdemont, Antoni Comín and Oriol Junqueras could take up their rightful seats as MEPs as early as tomorrow. That is why we are calling you to demonstrate in Brussels.

Write to the European Parliament!
Title: Write to the European Parliament!
Many among you asked us if you may contact the European Parliament’s authorities. Yes, you can. But it is not clear they will answer you.
You may send letters or postcards, better if they are certified. Together with the “Cartes per la República” platform we help you send certified letters to the European Parliament in order for you to be able to make your voice heard.
Indeed, we ask you to follow these instructions:
- Send certified letters or postcards to the following addresses, which are also displayed in the European Parliament’s website. If you send postcards, these have to be posted inside an envelope and have to be certified. It is not necessary to include the sender’s ID.
- Letters must be clear, firm, polite and cordial.
- As regards to the language, all letters should be in English. Cartes per la República has a team of translators that will help out in translating to the native languages of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and may help you with translations and/or corrections if necessary.
- It is probable the EP will NOT respond to any letter or postcard; therefore it is important to CERTIFY and KEEP THE RECEIPT.
- Once you have sent the letter WE WILL THANK YOU if you could send us a photo of the letter you sent. We will publish it in order to ask for more people to follow your lead. On Twitter (@Cartesxrep) and e-mail. We will respect the privacy (even of your profile, if you prefer) of those who want it.
- After 30 days from the sending, please inform CARTESXREP if you have received any response or not.
- In case the EP has not responded (which is the most probable thing to happen), Do Not Steal Our Votes will produce a public (not juridical or legal) complaint to international media.
- For further inquiries, you can contact CARTESXREP’s team for any consultation, petition, translation, help… The e-mail created for this action is:
